Thunder Baseball - ROUGH DRAFT

What is West Madison Thunder? West Madison Thunder (Thunder) is a travel baseball and softball program intended for West Madison Little League (WMLL) players and families looking for additional opportunities for fun, skill development, and personal growth beyond WMLL’s current spring/summer and fall seasons of play.

8-16 Years (dependent on player/coach numbers at each age level)

Tryouts

Tryouts occur in July at the WMLL Fields (701 Forward Drive, Madison, WI). Exact dates/times will be communicated with the WMLL community once finalized.

Tournaments

The program will target (4) travel tournaments for each team. These tournaments are scheduled around WMLL’s regular season, so as not to conflict with regular season games. We also target tournaments within a 90-minute drive of Madison, WI.

PRACTICES

Indoor winter training begins in January, with the season concluding in August.

Eligibility

WMLL PARTICIPATION: Thunder will supplement, not replace, WMLL’s spring/summer and fall seasons of play. As such, any player wishing to participate in the 2026 season of Thunder must also be an active participant of WMLL in the spring/summer season of 2026. Thunder players are encouraged, but not required, to participate in the WMLL fall season.

RESIDENCY (Baseball Only): Thunder baseball players must live or attend school in the Madison West, Madison Memorial or Middleton-Cross Plains high school attendance areas.

Refund Policy

Prior to the season, Thunder uses player registration fees to fund our operating budget, which includes the purchase of uniforms, equipment, secure winter training facilities, tournament fees, insurance, skills coaching, and other annual expenses. In order to operate, our organization needs to collect player fees prior to the start of the season. Because of this, refunds are only issued under the following conditions:

TRYOUTS: No refunds available, unless tryouts are cancelled with no make up dates offered.

SEASON REGISTRATION: Refunds, less a 5% (minimum $25) processing fee, will be granted if requested by December 1, 2025. No refunds will be granted after this date except for situations involving player injury or a family moving outside Dane County. In these cases, a partial refund of $200 will be provided if a written request is received between December 1 and February 28. Between March 1 and March 31, a partial refund of $100 will be issued.

Players on scholarships will be provided refunds on a prorated basis.

There will be no refunds after March 31, or if a player/family is asked to leave the program due to a breach of our Code of Conduct Policy at any time.
