Thunder Softball
What is West Madison Thunder Softball? West Madison Thunder (Thunder) Softball is a travel softball program intended for West Madison Little League (WMLL) players and families looking for additional opportunities for fun, skill development, and personal growth beyond WMLL’s current spring/summer and fall seasons of play.

8-14 Years (dependent on player/coach numbers at each age level)

Tryouts - 2027 Season
Softball tryouts will take place on Wednesday, July 22nd, with a makeup session on Friday, July 24th at WMLL (701 Forward Drive, Madison, WI).
*To participate, players must have a completed tryout registration.

PROGRAM TIMELINE
July 2026: Tryouts for 2027 Season
Late July-Early August 2026: Team selection (offer letters sent)
September-October 2026: Possibility for outdoor team practices (coach’s discretion)
January-April 2027: Weekly indoor practices organized by West Madison Thunder
April-July 2027: Weekly outdoor practices/scrimmages. Play four tournaments
ELIGIBILITY
WMLL PARTICIPATION: Thunder will supplement, not replace, WMLL’s spring/summer and fall seasons of play. As such, any player wishing to participate in a Thunder program for the 2027 season must also be an active participant of WMLL in the spring/summer 2027 season of play.
THUNDER/WMLL FIRST: The Thunder Softball program has a participation requirement restricting players from playing softball for teams outside of Thunder or West Madison Little League during the Thunder season. Players may participate in other softball programs outside of the Thunder season.
TOURNAMENTS
The program will target (4) travel tournaments for each team. These tournaments are scheduled around WMLL’s regular season, so as not to conflict with WMLL games. We also target tournaments within a 90-minute drive of Madison, WI.
