Thunder Softball
What is West Madison Thunder Softball? West Madison Thunder (Thunder) Softball is a travel softball program intended for West Madison Little League (WMLL) players and families looking for additional opportunities for fun, skill development, and personal growth beyond WMLL’s current spring/summer and fall seasons of play.

8-14 Years (dependent on player/coach numbers at each age level)

Tryout: $10
Full Season: 8U $400; 9U-14U $695

Tryouts - 2026 Season
Softball tryouts will take place Tuesday, July 8th, 2025 (5-8pm), at WMLL (701 Forward Drive, Madison, WI).
To participate, players must have a completed tryout registration.
*For those unable to attend our regularly scheduled tryout, a makeup date of Friday, July 11th, 2025 (5:30-7pm) is available.
PROGRAM TIMELINE
July 2025: Tryouts for 2026 Season
Late July-Early August 2025: Team selection (offer letters sent)
September-October 2025: Possibility for outdoor team practices (coach’s discretion)
January-April 2026: Weekly indoor practices organized by West Madison Thunder
April-July 2026: Weekly outdoor practices/scrimmages. Play four tournaments
ELIGIBILITY
WMLL PARTICIPATION: Thunder will supplement, not replace, WMLL’s spring/summer and fall seasons of play. As such, any player wishing to participate in a Thunder program for the 2026 season must also be an active participant of WMLL in the spring/summer 2026 season of play. Thunder players are encouraged, but not required, to participate in the WMLL fall season.
TOURNAMENTS
The program will target (4) travel tournaments for each team. These tournaments are scheduled around WMLL’s regular season, so as not to conflict with WMLL games. We also target tournaments within a 90-minute drive of Madison, WI.
